About Me & The Birth of Autistic Bloom
My name is Omi, and I’m a parent, entrepreneur, and advocate for autism awareness and support. My journey with autism became deeply personal when my son was diagnosed with moderate autism at the age of two. Since then, I’ve navigated the complexities of therapy, resources, and the overwhelming world of support systems—all while balancing my own businesses. Through this journey, I realized how many families struggle to find the right information, assistance, and community. That’s why I created Autistic Bloom.
My Story
The Mission of Autistic Bloom
Autistic Bloom is more than just a brand—it’s a resource, a voice, and a movement. My goal is to provide education, awareness, and support for families with autistic children, as well as individuals on the spectrum. Through informational content, advocacy, and autism awareness apparel, I want to help parents and caregivers feel empowered, informed, and less alone in their journey. I also aim to share my experiences with programs like Regional Centers, IHSS (In-Home Supportive Services), the Self-Determination Program (SDP) & much more to help families access the support they deserve.
Why the Name “Autistic Bloom”?
I chose the name Autistic Bloom because I truly believe that every autistic individual has the potential to grow, thrive, and bloom in their own way. The world often sees autism through a narrow lens, but I want to shift the perspective—to celebrate neurodiversity and embrace the beauty of different ways of thinking, communicating, and experiencing life.
The Meaning Behind the Blue Peony Icon
The peony has a special place in my heart, as it symbolizes strength, resilience, and growth—all qualities that reflect the autism journey. Blue is widely recognized as a color associated with autism awareness, and for me, it represents calmness, understanding, and the journey of self-discovery for autistic individuals and their families.
What I Hope to Achieve
Through Autistic Bloom, I hope to:
• Provide easily accessible information about autism-related resources.
• Offer comfortable and meaningful apparel that spreads awareness in a way that is both funny, thought-provoking, and empowering.
• Build a community where parents, caregivers, and autistic individuals feel supported and heard.
• Advocate for better education, services, and representation for the autism community.
Autistic Bloom is a passion project with purpose—to create something meaningful for those navigating autism, whether they’re parents like me, individuals on the spectrum, or anyone who wants to support and spread awareness.
